Tobago: A Landlubber’s Guide

By: Nicholas Roberts

The island of Tobago offers a variety of activities to suit an assortment of interests. Because of its unique and picturesque location, Tobago is a smorgasbord of the adventurous and the relaxing.

At just 8 miles wide and 26 miles long, Tobago is small enough to make exploring in a day possible, but not so small that you could ever run out of things to do or see. From horseback riding, to bird watching in the oldest rainforest reserve in the western hemisphere, to dining in restaurants that serve fresh local produce, there are ample activities to suit any taste.

Speaking of taste, why not give the Tobago Cocoa Plantation in Roxborough a try? Described by many as one of the best tours on the island, the Plantation is the only one of its kind still in operation in Tobago, allowing you to sample scrumptious chocolate made from high quality organic cocoa beans.

Visit the charming fishing villages dotted along the coasts, such as the quaint village of Charlotteville which is nestled amid the rainforest.

Argyle Falls features four levels of cascading water with scenic views from every angle. This spot is a do not miss for any Tobago vacation. But make sure to dress appropriately and bring along good hiking shoes, because the most spectacular views are from the highest levels of the falls.
